CCBC Student Poetry Slam

This year’s theme for the CCBC Student Poetry Slam will be protest art. Protest Art is a broad term that refers to creative works that concerns or is produced by activists and social movements to communicate a particular message. All topics of poetry competing in the poetry slam should be in some way protesting a social injustice or social concern.

Students must register by no later than November 1st at midnight in order to be included in the program. Each poem must be of the poet’s own construction. Each poet gets three minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to read one poem. If the poet goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score.The poet may not use props, costumes or musical instruments. Poems must address some theme of protest.
